Physician Assistant Program Department
Welcome to the SJVC Primary Care Physician Assistant Program.
Thank you for your interest in the SJVC Primary Care Physician Assistant Program.
The SJVC Primary Care Physician Assistant Program has a rigorous, nationally accredited and state approved curriculum, and recruits those who already have experience in health care and wish to become PAs. Our mission is to train clinically competent and compassionate PAs to provide care to medically underserved communities and patient populations under the supervision of licensed physicians.
As an “old school” PA training program, our students bring to the program a wealth of medical, nursing, dental and allied health clinical experience. Our students are prior corpsmen, RNs, LVNs, dental hygienist and assistants, medical lab techs, physical therapy aides, EMS personnel, medical assistants, radiographic techs, ophthalmic techs, respiratory therapists and international medical graduates, just to name a few. The average age is about 35 years. Admission to the Program is extremely competitive.
We are proud of our students’ commitment to service and the profession, which has earned them recognition from the AAPA, SAAAPA, CAPA, the California Health Professions Foundation and the National Health Service Corps.
Our training partners include almost every major health care system in the southern Central Valley of California. We have existing affiliation agreements with Kweah Delta Hospital, The VA of Fresno, Family Care Health Network, National Health Services Inc, Kaiser, Tulare and Fresno County Health, and many of the area Community, Rural and Migrant Health Clinics and local physicians.
Please feel free to surf our WEB site, we hope that it will answer many of the questions you have about the program. Again, thank you for your interest and good luck in your future PA endeavors.
Respectfully,

Les Howard, BS, PA
